It's a Winter Wonderland Here in the Woods: Deer in the Snow

Once the snow started in the early afternoon, soon after it really came down-we were to end up with 7" or more. Looks like allot out there this morning-winter's beauty.

I went out a bit earlier yesterday afternoon to put out cracked corn-figuring it would get covered up pretty quickly with the snow and not figuring the deer would really come out in this-but they did. We had 5 deer visit for a couple hours. Early this morning a deer walked by-where's the corn?? lol  Well there is usually no corn left by morning.

I took a few photos through the window: deer in the snow, if you click on the photos to enlarge you can see the snow coming down and in the last photo a little wind swirling around the pole.

This morning the snow is a few inches deeper than when these photos were taken yesterday.

Happy Sunday

  1. Wow, the snow is so beautiful and the deer are just perfect. My mom had a doe that didn't look like it was doing well so my mom set out cut apples for her and she made it through the winter. Great pictures, Kathy! Stay warm.

  2. Good Morning Kathy, It looks like you have got more snow then we did. It is enough to make the streets slick and they use salt on them which melts it, but then refreezes to black ice. I would sooner drive on the snow if I have to do so. The deer pictures are awesome and look close to your window. It didn't seem to bother them that you were taking pictures. Take care stay warm . 9. While I enjoy viewing the snow on Mt. Hood here in OR, I admire the snow you and your deer are getting to know up close and personal, Kathy :) Thanks so much for helping me with the "no reply" setting on my blog. I finally had to set up a new profile in order to be given the opportunity to choose the setting you told me about. But Hooray the deed is done and I was able to publish a new post last night :) Wishing you and yours a happy week, xx

  19. oh wow that is so beautiful, to sit indoors watching the deer feeding that close to you must be wonderful. I know its a bit silly but I feel sorry for them out there while the snow is falling. Sure they don't mind, they have fur coats, but I can't help feeling they must be cold, especially the little ones.
