A Couple of my Favorite Spirits Recipes

These are old standbys, and I have made these off and on for over 30 plus years now.

I look for neat bottles with caps like the grolsch beer bottles-love those.

I usually make a double of batch of this recipe, if making to give away for the holidays, I'll make two double batches.

5 cups sugar-I have used honey too-very nice

3 cups water

10 tablespoons of quality instant coffee

1/5 bottle vodka (2 2/3 cups)

4 teaspoons vanilla extract

In a large deep pan combine the sugar, water and coffee. Bring just to a boil, stirring til all is dissolved. Do not walk away from this, as when it comes to a boil-it will boil over the pan.

Let cool completely, add the vodka and vanilla extract. Pour into bottles and let set at least a month in a dark cabinet.

Amoretto-(I love this but have not made for awhile)

2 cups vodka

2 cups sugar

2 cups brandy

4 teaspoons almond extract

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, and two cups of water. Bring to boiling, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes; stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat. Let cool down.

Stir in vodka, brandy, and almont extract. transfer to air tight bottles. makes about 6 cups

Bailey's Irish Cream

(This is a definate treat when I make it.)

3 eggs

2 cups whiskey any type

1 (8.8 ounce) carton half and half

1 can evaporated milk- small can

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons chocolate syrup

Mix well in a blender. Chill in dark bottles. Keep refrigerated.This makes up a couple small bottles.
